Marc Mars

Marc Mars, where to start? He has been deeply interested in music from a very young age. He knew he had to learn to play an instrument ever since he first saw The Beatles on television. At that time, he had no idea what a bass was, but that awkwardly large guitar with fewer strings was the instrument that moved him the most. As soon as he learned what it was he pursued it single-mindedly.

He joined his first band at the ripe young age of fifteen and has been in one or more ever since. The styles of which have ranged from popular genres like Rock, Blues, R&B (think James Brown, Aretha and Motown, not Boys To Men), Funk and Country/Western, to less popular but more disciplined pursuits like Classical, Jazz, Fusion and Bebop. Oh, and he's way into improvised music. Not in an, “I won't learn my part I just wanna improvise it” way. He just likes it and is capable of executing it.

Both formally schooled and rigorously self-taught, Marc knows music. Though he's primarily a bassist, he also has enough command of his voice, guitar, drums and keyboard to express his ideas.

He has had the honor and opportunity to work and collaborate with musical legends such as Jerry Martini of Sly and the Family Stone, Sonny Turner of the Platters, The Miracles and The Contours. He's also built a home studio, a lifelong dream of his, capable of producing his best works yet.

Lastly, he's saddened by the current state of the music industry and the related lack of interest in live music. Which, if you aren't, what's wrong with you? Why let iHeartMedia spoon feed you waveform tripe designed to pacify you when you could make your own decisions and like what you like? Be an individual, not a cog. Support good music, both live and recorded. Or don't, whatever. I don't wanna come off as too preachy. It's just a suggestion. But why would you not wanna express individuality and actually support artists who bring you joy? Are you a monster? No, you're not. So yeah, buy the full album. Or don't. At least think about it, though. There's probably a song on there you'll like more than the one that you're looking for. It really is worth it.
